The identified potential area of operation is Itokisetseng combined school in Orion farm area near Losdoorn. The school is located in the Free State between Wesselsbron and Bothaville. The project will be a community based project operating under Itokisetseng Tswelelople Primary Agricultural Cooperative co-operative in Losdoorn, under the Nala local municipality as an administrative area in the Lejweleputswa district of the Free State in South Africa.The project aims to expose ordinary community members, especially women and children (Learners) to agriculture.
To date, the project serves as a viable health promotion strategy for health of the individual and local communities. It is also evident that the project increases cooperation and collaboration among communities. In the near future, the project is expected to increase community member’s preference and interest for eating more vegetables.
The Objective is to fight food insecurity whilst developing strategies to work together with the government, private sector and civil society for the vegetable project to be a success and sustainable.
